Our building was created using bales of wheat straw . We have enjoyed the insulating properties of straw since 2002.
Warm in the winter and cool in the summer, we have discovered that straw bales also provide acoustic advantages, muffling the noise of highway traffic outside and even the clanging of the blacksmiths next door.
While we are not in the business of constructing straw bale buildings for others, we are happy to share our experience and let others know what a wonderful option it is. We often get a lot of snow in winter but can still happily and comfortably weave in bare feet.
