When weaving the material for Barefoot Handweaving vests, the woven material comes off the loom and then is washed; cotton in a hot washer and dryer, wool and silk in a warm gentle cycle with conditioning shampoo and hung to dry. This shrinks the fabric approximately 25-30% and makes it much more cohesive. Only then when the fabric is pre-shrunk does the cutting, serging and sewing proceed. Every garment is washable. Snaps close the body of the garment because we are able to insert them without cutting the fabric.
Pockets are sturdy and soft cotton twill.
